Caryl Joy Young's Art & Bio

Arkansas native Caryl Joy Young has pursued her interest in art all of her adult life. In her travels to 50 countries, she has visited great art museums around the world, such as the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, the Musée D’orsay in Paris and the Barnes Foundation when it was located in Merion, Pennsylvania.
After moving to Hot Springs Village with her husband Terry, Caryl Joy has immersed herself in art. Beginning with art courses at the National Park Community College in Hot Springs, she later traveled to Júzcar, Spain, to study with the late pastel artist Maggie Price and has taken workshops from other nationally recognized artists such as Albert Handell, Robert Moore, Richard McKinley, Teresa Saia, and Bob Rohm. She co-operated Gallery 726 at 726 Central Avenue in downtown Hot Springs, Arkansas, from April 2009-April 2013, with two other artists of The Monday Studio.
Most recently, Young studied oil painting with Arkansas artist Matt Coburn. Since then, she has enjoyed applying thick layers of paint on a canvas with a palette knife while listening to country music. Her works, known as being colorful and contemporary, hang in private collections throughout the United States.
In addition to being a member artist of the Artists’ Workshop Gallery located at 610A Central Avenue, Hot Springs, Arkansas, 71901, Young’s other recent venues include Garvan Woodland Gardens, the Arkansas Rep Theater in Little Rock, AR, the Newport Art Festival, the Plein Air exhibit in the Landmark Building in Hot Springs, and Woodlands in Hot Springs Village, AR.
