Caryl Joy Young
Biographical Information

Caryl Joy Young has been interested in art all of her adult life. In her travels to 45 countries she has had the opportunity to view much of the great art of the world. Even though her 30-year career as an English teacher in Pine Bluff -- both at the high school and college levels -- did not permit much time for art instruction, she did study with Barry Thomas, Carol
Katchen, Rosalie Bushnok, and Kathy Strause during those years. Works from this early period are in private collections in Arkansas.

Now that Arkansans Caryl Joy and her husband Terry have come to Hot Springs Village, she has time to pursue her study of art more seriously. These past two years she has taken courses withOvita Goolsby and Thad Flenniken at the National Park Community College in Hot Springs, as well as workshops from regional artists. She is a member of Brush Strokes and The Fine Arts Center of Hot Springs.

Her work may be viewed at the Artists Workshop Gallery at 810 Central Avenue in downtown Hot Springs.
