Sue Shields has been creating artwork for over twenty years. She works in all medium depicting settings, people and scenes from her life. Her recent works have become more impressionistic in style and some reflect her venture into the abstract.
Sue is orginally from Illinois but left there a year after graduating highschool. While attending airline school in Kansas City Missouri she met & married Larry Shields. Due to Larry being active duty military they moved often living in many states from Alaska to Florida. While living in Nebraska Sue attended many classes and workshops when they were available realizing as a self taught artist she needed classes to grow in her work. A few years after moving to Nebraska Sue became a founding member of an Art co-op.
When Sue's husband retired they moved to Arkansas making their home in Hot Springs Village. She has been very fortunate to have the opportunity to attend classes and workshops conducted by Richard Stevens, Thad Fleniken, Gary Simmons, Marlene Gremillion,Daisy MacDonald, Joseph Fettingis, and most recently studying portraiture with Ovita Goolsby.
