Jane Fitch recently moved to Hot Springs Village, AR, from Holiday Island, AR, near Eureka Springs. Before moving to Northwest Arkansas in 1995, Jane resided in South Florida, where she worked as Director of the Lighthouse Gallery and School of Art, hiring instructors, jurying national and local artists for monthly exhibitions, coordinating an annual outdoor arts and crafts festival, as well as managing day-to-day administrataive responsibilities.
Jane's art education included study at the Cadek Conservatory of Art in Chattanooga, TN, as a teenager, and graduation from Ohio Wesleyan University with a degree in retailing and interior design. Jane has participated in numerous workshops throughout the country during recent years.
Fitch has won many awards for her work, which appears in collections across the U.S. Two of Jane's paintings were chosen in competition for the Holiday Island Telephone Directory cover in 1997 and again in 2001, with second place wins in 1999 and 2000. Many of her paintings have been accepted into juried shows, such as the prestigious National League of American Pen Women at Walton Art Center in Fayetteville, AR, and Springdale Art Center, Springdale, AR. Her portraits of children, homes and pets are especially popular and have been commissioned both in Florida and Arkansas.
Says Jane, "Watercolor media is my exclusive vehicle of expression. It is a dynamic medium in which the colors spontaneously mix with water to create fascinating patterns within the painting. The excitement of watching a painting evolve is always inspiring."
